As the turquoise water kisses the shore and laps the limestone cliffs, the sky flirts in a magnificent
array of deep oranges, pinks, yellows and lilacs. With an Islander Pimms in hand, a fork stuck into
mouth-watering coconut prawns, and chilled-out coastal tunes oozing from the speakers, guests at Sandy Bay Beach Club are encouraged to unwind, dig their toes into the sand, and witness the
sun melt into the ocean in a spectacular explosion of colour.
The Island’s Story
Nusa Lembongan is an unspoiled tropical paradise island of just eight square kilometres with very little traffic and no pollution. The smiling and friendly locals will welcome you to their idyllic surrounds, to their rich and diverse culture, beaches, quaint villages, and Hindu temples.
Fast becoming one of Bali’s most popular attractions the island paradise of Nusa Lembongan is a world away from the pollution, hassles and relatively hectic pace of Bali. There are no hawkers, no traffic, magnificent scenery and it is the perfect place to put your feet up and relax. Popular with families as well as couples this island is a safe and stunningly beautiful spot in which to enjoy the perfect Bali holiday.
Seaweed farming plays an important role on the island and the colourful patchwork of underwater emerald ‘fields’ is a unique and gorgeous sight around the island.
Located 12km off the coast of Sanur, Nusa Lembongan offers some of the best diving and snorkeling in Indonesia as well as several world class surf breaks. Fishing, mountain biking, hiking and a variety of water sports are also available.
Just 30 minutes by fast boat or 10 minutes via a scenic helicopter ride, Nusa Lembongan is in a group of three
islands - Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida lie to the south – and Nusa Lembongan is the only island of the group with full tourist accommodation and facilities.
Two main towns are located on Nusa Lembongan which has a local population of only 7,000. Jungut Batu is the one that first attracted surfers some 20 years ago. This is the main bay where the majority of tourist activity is based and accommodation ranges from basic huts to luxurious resorts.
Mushroom Bay, a smaller and very pretty bay with a beautiful white sand beach, is a five minute scooter ride away from The Beach Club Restaurant. Popular for water sports such as paddle boarding, snorkeling, banana boat rides and paragliding, Mushroom Bay has calm waters and is ideal for swimming.
Further south and west from Mushroom Bay the lesser known beaches either side of the Devil’s Tear outcrop are increasingly drawing more tourism and particularly higher end visitors.
It is here, abutting the beautiful white sand Sunset
Beach that you will find Sandy Bay Beach Club.
